Cape Pertpetua!

May 20th - 23rd

We had the perfect family weekend! I think we were all smiles the whole time, even the drive home! We spent the weekend at Cape Perpetua, here in Oregon (oh, Lord I just typed Florida! HA). Specifically located in Yachats, this place is beautiful!!! We could not have chosen a better weekend! It was the first weekend in months that the weather looked promising with high 60s and low 70s! We picked the best weekend to camp and I have to say we were VERY lucky!

I loved this campground! Greg picked a spot that was in the back (near the bathrooms of course). It was perfectly tucked away from the "ocean breeze" and sat right next to a running creek.

I have to bring up setup. We had it down when moving across the country, and I have to say, we still got it! Everything went very smoothly. The kids stayed entertained with bike riding and throwing rocks in the creek.

After we were all setup, we cooked up some chicken/veggie skewers, rice, and fruit salad. Then enjoyed some s'mores! We were all pretty exhausted, I think we were out by 9:30!

Can I just say, one of my favorite things about camping is waking up in the morning! I love the morning cuddles! I love when the kids come snuggle up inside my sleeping bag so I can warm them up! I also love that my husband gets up earlier and gets coffee/tea all ready for when I wake up! Ha thanks hun!!

Sunday morning before heading out for the day, we were near the famous Spruce tree of Cape Perpetua. It was a quick 5-7 minute trail right next to our campsite. The spruce tree is the largest and oldest tree in the Cape Perpetua area. It is said to be around 500 years old and 185 feet tall. We also found our first Geocache of the day!

Sunday was our big Geocaching day! Geocaching is our new favorite thing; it gets us out moving around, whether it be hiking or just going for a scenic drive. Sunday was a scenic drive for us and we stopped and looked for treasures along the way. If you haven't heard of Geocaching, you should look it up! It's basically like a big treasure hunt where people give you GPS coordinates and clues and you have to find where they are. We drove up to the town of Yachats and turned onto Yachats River Road. This road took us up through the hills and all the way back around behind our campsite. I have to give major props to my amazing husband. He had planned out every "Cache" we were going to search for along the way. Even though we were driving a lot that day, the kids were so into it and so excited when we found a new treasure. So we really were getting a lot out of this day by exploring the scenery with a bunch of stops along the way!

Our 2nd Cache of the day was in the town of Yachats at this cute little log church.  

Our 3rd Cache of the day was up along the Yachats River Road. It was an area that was obviously a logging area, lots of trees were cut down.

Our 4th Cache found was just on the side of the road. It was in a cool little container that looks like a log. Very cool!

We stopped off for a lunch break at this awesome covered bridge. Noah and I have been talking about seeing one for a while, so he was pretty excited when he saw where we were going to hang out at for lunch!

After lunch we kept on going! We found our 5th Cache at a fire station....

and our 6th Cache near a bridge!

It was a very successful day and the drive was spectacular! The kids ended up falling asleep as we made our way back down. We stopped off at the Cape Perpetua lookout. Wow was it breathtaking! We knew we were going to come back at sunset...

And we DID!

Got back to camp, and the kids were out very soon after!!

Monday morning was spent riding bikes and enjoying a yummy breakfast! Kamryn has improved 100% on her bike just from this weekend. The kids just road around and around AND around!

We decided it would be our day to see the Spouting Horn, Devil's Churn, and Thor's Well then shoot over to Yachats to explore the town, eat lunch at Luna, and get an ice cream.

What a view right?? This is where Spouting Horn and Thor's Well was located. It was a little more lower tide than we were expecting. But at least we got to walk out there!

Afterwards, we headed into the town of Yachats to check out the tidepools and find one more Geocache.

Our 7th Cache found!! Kamryn was actually the one to find this one (thanks daddy!) so she was pretty excited. Yet I only got a photo of Noah holding it! Ha!

 We had lunch at Luna Sea Fish House and then went next door for that ice cream we promised!

That was the end of our Monday travels, so back to camp we went where we just hung out, played games, road bikes, played in the creek, built a fire, ate more s'more, and did a little packing up for our departure the next day.

The kids got to ride in the back of the truck when Greg went to pick up more firewood. They were in heaven and boy did it bring back memories of my childhood!

Tuesday morning! Time to go home, boo! Poor Noah was actually a little emotional about leaving. He wasn't ready to leave. This just means it was the perfect trip and everything was planned out perfectly. Again, I have to thank my hubby for this one. He planned every part of each day! So THANK YOU!!!! We all enjoyed ourselves SO SO much! Memories are being made! Our kids are very very lucky!

Busick Adventures Continues.....

Baby Busick #3!

Hello Busick Adventure World! I know this blog is hit or miss but I just couldn't help myself and needed to add in our new addition due July 23rd!! We are SUPER excited to meet our baby boy! This pregnancy is going extremely fast!

We told the kids around Christmas time and they were SO excited! Greg and I did a little dance to their favorite youtube song! I am not kidding, they have listened to this song since last summer and it looks like it's all coming true! The song is called Mommy's Got a Baby in Her Belly .

Our 20 Week Ultrasound CONFIRMING it's a BOY! The morning I found out I was pregnant (November 26th to be exact), I told Greg, "I'm pregnant and it's a boy". HA I wouldn't say I have the best instincts, but this one...I just knew.

 

28 Weeks!

Total Weight Gain: 15lbs

Names: Well a lot of you know that Greg just LOVES the name "Hank". But this Mama is just not a fan. So we asked the kids what they wanted and they came up with "Hank Frank Bootyshake", so we are sticking to that until we officially have a name. So the answer is NO we do not have a name quite yet! ;) I am pretty sure whatever we name him, he will still be called Hank Frank Bootyshake considering most of our friends here in Oregon are all about "Hank Frank Bootyshake"! ;)

Regular Clothes or Maternity: Leggings most days and I have a pair of H&M Maternity Jeans that I LOVE!

Stretch Marks: Just from my past 2 pregnancies lol. I have been trying to be better this time putting stretch mark cream on this belly!

Aches and Pains: I have had some bad luck this pregnancy with joint back pain on my lower left side. It's a pain I hope and pray goes away after he is born! It hurts to sleep and it hurts to get up from sitting too long. I have found ways to go around the pain (like how I sit and sleep) but sometimes there's nothing I can do. I have had one prenatal massage, which helped, and the masseuse gave me some great pointers on sitting and stretching. I have also stopped working out with weights because it was only making it worse.

Sleep: Sleeping is not the best but I get through the night just fine! I sleep with a pillow behind my back and between my legs. No pregnancy pillow this time!

Fitness: Fitness has been a big part of me and a big motivation to push through during my whole pregnancy. I reached 24 weeks (doing Beachbody's 21 Day Fix) until I realized that weight lifting was just not working with my back. I now occasionally do prenatal yoga and pilates on youtube, hikes with the family, and hoping to get in some more walks on the nice sunny days here! Rain has been a little much these days!!!

Miss Anything: I think we all know my answer...WINE. I miss just relaxing after the kids go to bed and having a glass of wine. I also miss getting up without grunting or in pain lol.

Baby Movement: MY GOODNESS THIS BOY MOVES ALL THE TIME! I love it SO much. It is the coolest thing and I feel so blessed to be able to have this feeling one last time. My favorite is the look on Noah's face when he feels his brother move. His eyes widen and he gets this huge smile on his face. It's so special. Kamryn hasn't quite had the patience to wait it out ;)

Food: This pregnancy I have no food aversions. It is INSANE. My last two pregnancies, I hated everything except fruit, Lucky Charms, and chocolate milk! Eating was such a struggle! THIS pregnancy, I can honestly eat anything that I normally eat. I crave more sweets like chocolate and fruit.  

Labor Signs: Nope! Some Braxton Hicks or some kind of tightness!

Belly Button In/Out: Out for sure!

Wedding Rings On or Off: On

Mood: I've been in a pretty decent mood actually...unless my husband disagrees, I'm not sure haha!

Appointments: First off, this is the first baby that we rarely get ultrasounds! I definitely feel lucky that we got so many with Noah and Kam. I wish we had more! Anywho, I start having appointments every 2 weeks now. I can't believe how time has flown by this time around! I just recently failed my 1 hour glucose test (same happened when I was pregnant with Noah). But I passed the 3 hour glucose test so we are good to go! Baby's heartbeat is at 145-150, and everything is measuring out perfectly!

How's the Big Brother: Noah is doing fabulous! He is pretty pumped about being a big brother again. He can't wait to teach him to crawl, walk, jump, and sprint! Noah is now 6.5 and loving Kindergarten. Only 1 month of school left, I can't believe my baby will soon be in 1st grade! He loves his teacher and she loves him. He is officially reading. We are currently loving all the Elephant and Piggie books by Mo Willems. He also enjoys the Dick and Jane books. Noah is currently playing TBall and man is he good! Greg is the assistant coach and Noah loves every second of it! Noah is really starting to grasp the concept of the game. He has a pretty good arm, is hitting with "soft pitch" instead of the tee, and can hit pretty well. Of course Greg is over the moon and is ready to sign him up for the Majors! ;)

How's the Big Sister: Kamryn, our little mommy, could not be more excited to meet her brother. We can see it in her already that she will, without a doubt, be protective and loving. We also can tell she will have her moments of jealousy (which of course most kids go through), but also I can totally see her trying to pick him up and carry him all around. So we will have to keep our eyes open and ready for it. Kam LOVES her dolls and loves to play "mom and dad". We know she will be the best Big Sister and can't wait to see what's to come! Kamryn has been doing well and enjoying school. She only has a couple weeks left! She is making lots of friends through the neighborhood, school, and gymnastics! She's a happy girl around her friends and you can tell by the way she smiles. Gymnastics is one of her favorite things. She's been working on handstands, forward rolls, cartwheels, and different jumps on the trampoline. She also loves going to the Library Storytime on Thursdays with all of her gymnastics buddies. They read a few stories and then do a craft. It's pretty darn cute and FUN!

We, as a family, are all doing pretty well. We have our first camping trip coming up! We are hoping the weather stays nice for us! We are trying to get in camping when we can, as Greg's schedule is going to start getting pretty busy with work and then our little Hank Frank Bootyshake will be here before we know it! We have officially moved the kids into one room and they seem to be enjoying it so far. We made Kamryn's room into the nursery/playroom. We have the crib all set up, just repainted a dresser, and now putting together a framed peg board project for the wall. Pictures may be to follow! So much going on, but that's what we love!

First Day of School!

We have been here in Oregon for just over 2 months and are finally settling in! We've painted, decorated, organized, and even got a dog!! The neighborhood is filled with kids and our kiddos are absolutely in heaven! The weather is brisk compared to Key West, but we have been having some beautiful days. We are ready for visitors! ;)


Today was the first day of school! The kids could not wait to get to school! Not one argument this morning of getting dressed or brushing our teeth! Woo! They ate breakfast and they asked every 5 minutes when they could go to school.

Noah starts school around 7:45am. We got there and his teacher was super sweet. She told us to go down to the cafeteria and eat breakfast. The line was super long and it was almost 7:45, so we headed back. We got to see the gym and explore the hallways a bit so it all worked out! He went right in without a problem, straight to the computer actually. He is so use to playing on the computer at his preschool, he thought he could in this class. Unfortunately it was his teacher's computer, but fortunately they have a computer lab that they are going to tomorrow which he was pretty excited about! 

Moving on! There was a little boy who came into class who seemed a little unsure about going to school. He was pretty sad and you could tell he wanted to go home. I mentioned to Noah that this little boy was sad and it would be so nice to introduce himself. Without a wink, he pops up from coloring and says "oh! sure!". It was the sweetest thing and I could not be more proud of him! 

We didn't stay very long, we said our goodbyes and he happily gave me a hug and kiss, told Kam to have fun at school and to draw him a picture.

When I came back to pick him up, Noah was in tears! Of course, my head is spinning thinking was someone mean? Did he do something wrong? Did he hate today? NOPE. He was crying because he couldn't take the bus home lol!! Poor kid. I tried to tell him he gets to take the bus on field trips but it didn't matter. SO tomorrow he gets to ride his bike to school and mommy gets to run. Hope it's not too windy!! ;)

Kamryn goes to school at 9am, so we went back home and hung out for a little bit. Once we got to school, Kamryn was very excited. She was her shy little self but she went right in without a problem. She hung her backpack and jacket, washed her hands, and went off to playing. I honestly didn't know what to do with myself! She didn't need me! She had this in the bag! So I gave her a kiss goodbye and told her I would come get her in a few hours and she whispered, "okay mama". I'm so grateful she has one of our neighbors in her class. She is a little older but Kamryn absolutely loves her so it was good start. 

When I came back to pick her up, she was playing outside with all smiles!! The fact that she was playing with someone else made me happy. When I spoke with her teacher (Cathy), she quickly mentioned that Kamryn was very shy but heard her giggly with her new friend a couple times. That is where Cathy realized that Kamryn has that famous "stink eye". Ha. I reassured her that Kamryn was having fun, the "stink eye" was probably because she caught her attention. So funny. 

It was a good day for Kam though, she just takes a while to warm up. I don't blame her! She is the youngest in her class at 3.5. The class goes up to 5 year olds. 

So happy my kiddos had such a great day! I am so proud of both of them! Tomorrow, Kam is going to start gymnastics and Noah starts soccer! Can't wait!
