California Dreamin

So, we have been in California for almost 3 weeks now and have stayed extremely busy! I can finally say that things have slowed down a bit and I am able to relax a little bit more.

I have been hearing from Greg every couple days and he sounds like he is doing great. Looks like he is the lucky one for not getting seasick.  The weather has been raining constantly since they left Key West, FL. The weather got pretty bad that they ended up cancelling the training down in the Mexico and are heading back to the states. Plans keep changing so he doesn't really know where he is going (plus if I knew, I couldn't really tell you!) ;). The waves have been about 10 foot swells so the boat is definitely rockin! The past couple days he hasn't really been sleeping due to the weather. Last night his head kept hitting the wall or his feet would fall over the bed. He is on the top bunk (of 4), so that would be a pretty long fall! Once he gets to port, I'll try to get him to send me some photos so I can post some for you guys :)

Anywho, these past weeks have been busy and I thought I'd share some photos :) Although, most of you have probably already seen them on My Facebook :)

To start off...as maybe most of you know already, our flight to California was HORRIBLE. Noah was very congested and cried the almost the whole 5.5 hours! Yikes! It was pretty bad. I am pretty sure his ears were hurting so at one point, I took him to the bathroom and changed his diaper and let him cry hard (that sounds so mean) so his ears would pop. The last hour on the plane was much better. Lesson Learned: 1) No more Nonstop flights 2) Daytime flights are better than nighttime. (Noah was so tired, he just wanted to go to sleep but couldn't get comfortable). So here is my happy child with grandpa getting our luggage.

Once we got into town, the wedding events started! My Sister's wedding was absolutely gorgeous! She looked beautiful!
Rehearsal Day!

Swimming at the Pool

Took a trip to the Academy of Sciences with my dad, brother and his fam :)

Our trip to Lake Berryessa was a good time as I talked about in the last post...

Yesterday we went to the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma. Noah was too small for all the rides except the Carousel and Train. He loved them both! He had so much fun with the rides and just running around. He is really starting to become a big boy! He is even starting to listen to me! ;)

I must say staying busy is extremely good for us but of course I can't help but miss Gregory every day. All the things we have done have been so fun, but obviously would be even more fun with him around. I am just glad he is doing well and staying safe. Can't believe we still won't be seeing him for over a month! Ugh, staying busy is one thing, but time is still going by too slow for me! To end this "oober-long" blog, I thought I would end with this...

Sorry Babe, hope you don't hate me for this! It's just so cute! Noah loves watching Daddy before bed. It actually makes him more hyper but it's so cute! He jumps up and down when he listens to it! Hope this makes you smile! :)

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend!

Happy Father's Day!

Although Greg wasn't home for Father's Day, I am so happy that Noah and I made sure to celebrate Father's Day before he left. We definitely missed him A LOT, but he celebrated in his own way in Key West, Florida; Kayaking and Snorkeling!! That's a pretty good day! As jealous as I am, I know he deserves it 100%! Greg has been gone for 18 Days (wow seems like WAY more), and has been on the boat 17 of those days. That's a lot of work, so getting a day off, on LAND, is definitely what he needed!

Every night, Noah and I watch Daddy's good night videos. One is just as I said; Greg saying good night. The second one is a video of Greg reading (well, rapping) the book Pajama Time, by Sandra Boynton.
A little distracted by my phone light shining on him but he loves dancing to daddy's rap! haha.

I hope everyone had a nice Father's Day. We spent the weekend at Lake Berryessa with the Busick fam and had a great time! Noah enjoyed the water and playing with all his relatives! :) Then spent Sunday night at my brother's house for dinner and some play time! (Warning: Photo Overload!)

FIRST Patrol!

Greg is officially out at sea and ready for work! He has been so excited to get underway and start learning more. He was nervous he was going to get seasick...unfortunately, most new people do. The doctor onboard gave him a patch to put behind his ear which hopefully will help.
We were lucky enough to get to spend the morning together. Greg was able to sleep in a bit, we went for a walk and played at the park, then put Noah down for a nap in which we were able to have some time together sans kid. We dropped Greg off to the boat and came back later to watch the boat leave. I met a couple of nice people who told me about an area towards the backside of base where we could see the boat leave and the Dependable come in.
 Preparing to Leave
There he is! On the right...so proud of him!
Biting his nails of course ;)
 Blowing Daddy a Kiss Goodbye
Pulling Out!
The camera kind of drops down because I could see Greg waving at us..haha
On Our Way to the Jetty

So, I thought maybe there was something wrong with me because I wasn't showing too much emotion but when I saw that boat backing out of the pier, reality hit me and my hubby (and Noah's Daddy) was leaving us for 60+ days. All these thoughts have gone through my head; I can't do this, Why am I doing this? Why did I agree to this? But when I got home from seeing the boat leave, all our friends were outside at the park and it was just what I needed. Spending time with friends is so much better than going inside and sulking! I'm not going to lie, I'm emotionally exhausted but I am so glad to know that I have friends here that I can count on. I'm grateful for Noah to keep me busy, smiling, and focused on other things. I am grateful for family and friends who have called, text, facebooked, and emailed (Thank you!!). It's only day 1, but I know the days will get better. I try to be tough, and I am going to keep trying because I know that I am not the only one going through this and missing my spouse. I am one tough cookie!! ;)

I am so proud of Greg and excited that he has been looking forward to this patrol. He is going to see some beautiful things and I can't wait for him to come back and show me (or "us"...as in you, me, and Noah) pictures and videos. We went out and bought Greg a waterproof camera so he is ready and knows I will be posting some when he gets back!

I am leaving Tuesday for California for 6 weeks! I am so excited to see everyone! I think going to home will keep me busy and time will go by pretty quick!

As for hearing from Greg, I should be hearing from him via email. Sometimes the computers go down but he said at least 3-4 times a week. Then when he gets to port, he can call me.

Mother's Day Weekend

First of all, I'm sorry for lagging so much on the blog. The only time I have to blog is at night and, no offense, I would rather spend quality time with my hubby. You understand ;)  Greg leaves soon, so I am taking in every moment I have with him!
So with that said, the weekend started off on Friday when Greg's boat put on a barbecue for everyone. There were burgers, hot dogs, chips, beer, soda, and gatorade. It was a nice gathering and I was able to meet some more people and their families from the Vigorous. Greg was on Duty that day (Dish washing!!) but was able to come for a couple hours.
Greg, Noah, Shea, and Seth

Saturday we went to the beach with some friends. The weather was in the 70s that day so we were pretty comfortable on the beach. Noah absolutely loves the beach!
This little guy wanted to go swimming..we had to force him to hold our hand!!

Mother's Day was a busy busy day but the best day so far! Greg got up with Noah (at 6:15!! ugh) and made me breakfast! After breakfast we went on a walk and enjoyed the beautiful weather, of course stopping along the beach so Noah could do some running around...

After that, I was lucky enough to take a shower and get ready for the day in peace! Thanks Babe! Then we were off to Ocean City Boardwalk. We have never been and it is about 40 minutes from where we live. The town is beautiful and the Boardwalk was just like any other Boardwalk...but maybe a little better ;) I was even able to go on Noah's first ride at the "Carnival".

When we got back from Ocean City, we decided to go for a bike ride around town. We ended up going to an awesome restaurant called The Rusty Nail where they had a beach pit, delicious drinks, and live music.

Like I said before, this was the best weekend since we have been here and all I have is my husband and Noah to thank for that! Thanks Gregory for a fun weekend and a memorable Mother's Day! I love you!
